The Relationship of Psychic Ability to Reading the Tarot
Everyone is Psychic!
Psychic Ability and Reading the Tarot
I don’t support the notion that only a few, exceptional individuals possess psychic ability. I believe that everyone has this gift. The difference between those who are identified as psychics is that they actively work to develop their psychic ability, rely on it, and act on its insight. This is the secret of becoming a psychic. When you pay attention to information that comes into your consciousness from unknown” sources, and act on that information, your ability to intuit strengthens 10 fold. It’s like any muscle in the body – use it or lose it, as the old adage goes.
There are 5 psychic senses just as there are 5 physical senses. A demonstrated strength in one over the others is believed but not proved to be genetically determined.
Clairvoyance
– seers connect the inquirers problems to psychic sources and prescribe ritual actions and medicines to them – they can see auras and energy fields around a person and can see things about a person through a personal object the client has touched or used.
Telekinesis
– is the ability to move objects with the mind; light bulbs burning out, cracks in tables suddenly appearing, and psychic healing.
Telepathy
– is knowing what is in the mind of another; empathic and deep understanding of others often what is in the unconscious mind of the client. Some people are senders and others are receivers. Some are able to do both. When you think of a gifted psychic sender, imagine someone who is remarkablly charasmatic and able to convince others to share their views or even deep beliefs. Receivers are gifted empaths and have a profoundly deep understanding of other people. They make truly amazing counselors and healers.
Mediumship
– is someone who is able to communicate with spirits beyond the grave. This is a person able to go into full trance and be inhabited by souls of the dead; these communications through the medium may be verbally relayed or through the use of automatic writing, or clairaudience (hearing messages).
Precognition
– is psychic receiving unbidden visions and dreams of what is going to happen. The insight might be revealed through waking or sleeping images or simply through the use of a divining tool such as Tarot or the I-Ching. Some people experience clear visions of what will take place for individuals and for the whole of humanity.
Kathleen like all psychics is stronger in some of these psychic gifts over others. She is especially gifted in telepathy, precognition and clairvoyance. But she has been also able to connect with spirits who have passed on and at times has been also psychickinetic.
Kathleen’s Psychic Childhood
She was uniquely blessed in her ongoing process of spiritual unfoldment which began when she was a child. She became aware of her spiritual gifts at 12 years of age. Up until then she just assumed everyone was able to do what she had been doing since birth. Once aware of it however she was relentless in her determination to understand it and at 15 years old she gave a presentation on telepathy to her Grade 10 Physics class that was enthusiastically received. In fact an informal vote was taken by the students to elect her presentation the best Physics class ever. Not that it was a terrifically high bar to leap.
Kathleen’s Psychic Adolescence
At 17 in 1971, she was racing home from school (now in Grade 12) every day to learn and practice yoga with Karena on PBS. No one in her circle was doing yoga in those days (1971) and since she was already suffering from a somewhat outcast position to her peers, she wasn’t bragging about her perfect downward facing dog. But then she had already been warned by her mother to keep much of her gifts on the quiet anyway. She said if people knew you could read their minds they might do worse than shun you. So Kathleen researched, did her yoga and vented to her mother who was unrelenting in her support of her individuality.
Kathleen’s mother abhorred conformity so the fact that Kathleen was showing signs of becoming the most eccentric girl in town really tickled her. She would take great delight playing psychic games with Kathleen. She would urge Kathleen to guess at someone’s name, where they were from, or some small detail about them. When it was revealed that Kathleen was right, she would crow with excitement. So not only was Kathleen’s development supported, it was enormously celebrated on a daily basis. It never occurred to Kathleen that she might be just crazy. Or that her mother was for that matter.
Kathleen’s Spiritual Teachers
As she matured, Kathleen gravitated to people who were also interested in spiritual matters. She had a stream of spiritual teachers that gave her just the right guidance at the most auspicious time. She sought academic training throughout North America that encouraged in depth psycho/spiritual pursuit. Kathleen studied Carl Jung extensively until she was lecturing on Jung for the Jung Society of Greater Victoria in the early ’90’s. Kathleen completed a Master’s degree in the Psychology of Relgion at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada having found classes and teachers that shared a somewhat like mind. She’s had a host of wonderful role models as her therapists and counselors.
Kathleen Helps those Suffering from Spiritual Emergencies
In Kathleen’s psychic advisory practice she is honoured and yet concerned for the people who have not been as fortunate as she. She has met many people over the years who were on the verge of suicide as a result of feeling isolated and overwhelmed with spiritual experiences. She has had clients who were intent on exploring their inner life whose families perceived them as crazy and wanted to put them on psychiatric medications to stem the flow of spiritual downloading. Most of these people have not had the benefit of a conceptual framework to understand what they are experiencing. There are times when regressive behaviour and severe disorientation are a part of spiritual growth and it requires patience not medication.
If you are going through an overwhelming spiritual unfoldment don’t despair. You aren’t alone and you’re not crazy.
