How to Recognize a Good Psychic
Past Lives
How do you identify a good psychic?
I started this series in my monthly ezine “Let’s Keep in Touch” a while ago and I decided to continue it due to the overwhelmingly positive response I receive from people after publishing these types of articles.
My ruminations on this subject are fed by my own experience as a professional psychic reader and as a consumer. Yes I’ve made mistakes too. In this article I want to address the whole notion of seeing a psychic who spends much of your session together discussing your (supposed!) past lives.
Your so called “past lives” are generally a safe subject to talk about in a psychic consultation because you have no way to verify how accurate the information is or whether you even had any past lives at all. I don’t believe in more than one embodiment so I’d be extremely skeptical of any notion referring to this oddity myself. The psychic may couch the message in complex language, sprinkling it with references to “the Akashic records” or “the lost continent of Atlantis” and typically your past life will have taken place in an exotic land such as Egypt or the Middle East at the time of Christ.
Spiritual Geography
Now just because I don’t believe in more than one embodiment doesn’t mean I don’t believe that our souls do have attachments to particular geographic locales. One of my clients has felt a strong attachment to Egypt. In fact since she was a tot she’s felt this inexplicable affinity to Egypt. Throughout her young life she has taken many trips there describing the feeling as a “coming home”. She plans to move there someday and well she should! There is a power in place but does that mean she was Cleopatra in a past life? No it doesn’t and I would be unimpressed with anyone suggesting it!
Psychic “Channeling”
You are most likely to encounter references to past lives and karma with “channelers”, since we seem to expect that spirit guides will say mysterious and otherworldly things. By going into a trance, a channeler can avoid taking responsibility for anything she/he says, especially since many don’t even recall what took place while they were “under”. A sure indicator (in my opinion!) that their authenticity is questionable. A true trance medium remembers everything that took place in trance!
Treat past-life information like anything else you hear from a psychic. If it makes sense to you, if it seems to apply to a situation you are in now, then listen to what is being said and how it can help you. If a psychic tells you that you were a priest in ancient Egypt and were stoned for violating religious laws, you should also be told what significance that has for you now, beyond the fact that you are afraid of going into Egyptian tombs.
