What is psychic? The mass media tells us that a real psychic can see into you, your surroundings and circumstances without any prior knowledge of you. Furthermore, even if you close yourself up and refuse to reveal anything about yourself, a psychic can still see you.

The mass media gloms onto models that exemplify this kind of divination, such as Miss Cleo. We debate among ourselves- is she for real or is it all just good acting?

Customers flock to the phones to find out. Some clients come to the phone with a “prove it to me” attitude. Some come with real need- for insight, for support. Some come with broken hearts and desperation.

Psychics seem to come in many variations as well. Perhaps some can really see all. Perhaps some are fakes. A good reader will be honest with you and tell you what they can and cannot accomplish. They will try to give you the best reading they can, to tell you the truths that they perceive, to be there for you. They will honor you and respect you, and recognize the sacredness of your exchange with them.
